No jokes in today’s post. It really seems like everyone has forgotten how to celebrate a proper April 1st. It lost the traditional meaning for me years ago. About 4 to be exact. April 1st, 2005. What happened on that day. Well Portland finally got something it needed, a shop to be the core of the scene, Goods. It has had it’s up’s and down’s, but Shad seems to have righted that ship and the horizon is looking goods, pun intended.

Later in 2005 another meaning for April 1st came along when I started my job at Odyssey and became good friends with Jim C of Sunday!. April 1st, 2005 was also the day he announced to the world he was laving Kink and doing his own bike company by the name of Sunday. That may have been the last good April Fools joke in BMX. Funny thing is, 4 years later, JC has made sure Sunday! is not a joke. He is about to release his first video project featuring his amazing team, Up Up and Away. Today the first shipment of his trail frames the Model-D arrived and in another ironic line up, so did his 24″ frames that will be known by the name Plus4. I guess this 4 year anniversary of his company looks to be another positive one and I have been stoked to help where ever I can.

I guess even today is even another period marked by this once silly holiday and I am very stoked that my little sister can finally move on and raise her kids to be great, but finally without that extra cloud of stress hanging over her head.

Here’s to Shad, JC and my little sister. May your 5th and new years be fucking great ones.
