Up first thing this morning to watch the start of the Tour de France. It was rough staying awake, but the race was a great Time Trial start. Lance ended up in 10th at the end of the day with 3 of his other Astana team members above him in the top 10. Great start in a beautiful place Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Of course I was pretty inspired to go ride my big bike a bit, so I was going to head up to the beach and check out that scene with Greyboy for a while before people were supposed to be at our house for a BBQ. That plan did not work out. I pumped up the tires and while I was cruising up the alley to make sure everything was working fine my knee, the same one that has been bothering me, just stops working. I don’t think I stretched enough and the muscles around it were not very happy and had pulled tight into a knot in the back. Super painful and killed all plans for any type of riding, bummer.

Ehh not really. I just ended up chiling at home with Ran and Rachael and getting things in order for the day. Rachael’s new side of the house chill area was done and looked pretty good. Ryan cut down the height of a table to make an outdoor coffee table for the area. At some point I am in my room and I hear laughing, screeching and water and go up front and find them both in a fight. Well, one had the hose, Ryan, and one was getting soaked, Rachael. I grabbed a bottle of water and soaked Ryan through the window screen. He eventually payed my back with the hose back through the same screen. Good laughs for sure.

Everyone started showing up around 6 and we were surprised by Ryan Corrigan and his crew that included Brian Vowell, who were all in town building ramps for XGames. It was a good surprise and the day was a great day. At some point when we were showing them the house they saw my bikes in the garage and mainly the Spike bike. When I told them to take it for a spin, they were more than excited. That is the exact reason I built the bike.

We were so caught up in conversation that we missed any kind of fire works, well, except the 4 short rolls of Black Cats that were randomly thrown during the night deafening us and scaring the shit out of Max, Dave Jacobs little dog. I think a bread fight broke out in the house at some point too, not sure about that one.

About midnight most had decided to head out the bar. Corrigan and crew hung out a bit longer with me and just shot the shit. Brian as passed out on the couch so they headed out before 1. This makes the 2nd in a row 4th of July I haven’t seen fireworks, but this is also the 2nd straight year that having a great time was the reason for it. Happy Tour de 4th!
