Casey Strong has joined the Army and he recently emailed us the update below to give us the lowdown:

“I joined as Airborne Infantry, so i will be going to Fort Benning in Georgia.
I will most likely spend most of my time at Fort Benning, except for my deployment.

I have a lot of reasons for joining. My grandpas, along with a few uncles, had been in
the military, and I look up to them. Growing up it was something I always wanted to
do, and it has always stuck with me. When I turned 18 I had been ready to sign and join
but i tore my ACL a few months before I would have been leaving. After any major
surgery the Army requires a two year wait before you are able to join. What brought it
up recently was my two years had passed I was looking to going back to school trying
to figure out how I would afford to do it. It kinda came back to me then, and I got
the ball rolling again.

Because of my knee surgery I had to see a whole bunch of doctors to get approved again,
somewhere around ten. I joined for four years active duty contract with four years
reserve, with the option to finish those as active or reserve.”
