Marvin Gaye one of Motown’s gifted singer and composers sang some of the most memorable hits of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s had been nominated for eight Grammy’s before winning one in 1983. He started singing at the age of three, in church, and was soon playing the organ as well. 1961 Motown’s Berry Gordy Jr. signed him and his group to Motown. Marvin Gaye soon after married Berry Gordy’s sister Anna and was one of the first Motown artists to gain complete artistic control of his records.
Lyrics
Distant lover,
Lover
(Lover, Lover, Lover)
Oooo
So many miles away,
Oooo
Heaven knows that I long for you
every night,
every night
and sometimes
through the day
Distant Lover
(Lover, Lover, Lover)
Oooo
Lover
You should think about me, and
Say a prayer for me
Please, Please
Think about me sometime
Think about me here
here in misery
misery
(Baby)
As I reminisce
through our joyful summer together
(Oh oh Baby)
The promises we made
on a daily letter
Then all of a sudden
everything seems to explode
now I gaze out my window
Sugar, Down lonesome road
Distant Lover
(Lover, Lover, Lover)
Oooo
Sugar, how can you treat my heart so mean
Didn’t you know, sugar
that every moment
that I spent with you
I treasured it
like it was a precious jewel
Oh Baby
Lord have mercy
Ooo
(Music)
Oh baby
“Don’t go”
Please
“Come back baby”
Ooo
There’s something I want to say
When you left you took all of me with you
Now Lord I wonder
Do you want me scream, pleading
Please, Please Baby
Come Back Home……
Oh Baby
