After seeing the doc yesterday, Doyle filled us in on the status of his ankle: Well, good news and bad news on the ankle front…
The bad news is that, along with the two small fractures, the MRI revealed that I’ve torn most of the ligaments in my ankle and put a small tear in one of the tendons. The good news is I’m already out of the hard cast and in to a soft walking cast. The walking cast doesn’t really mean much to me right now as I still can’t put any weight on my left foot and it’s still very swollen. However, the doc told me that I can slowly start TRYING to bear weight on it as the swelling goes down and I gain more comfort and movement. Also, I’m starting physical therapy next week to really start working this thing out. I’ve been told that my orthopedist is one of the best in my region, so I feel I’m in good hands. I’m still not sure as to when I’m going to be able to get back on the bike. Mostly, I just want to make sure that this heals properly and it’s nice and strong before I start hammering down on it again!
