The Sub1 gene–identified by researchers at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and University of California–enables rice to survive complete submergence for up to 17 days–seeing is believing! To show the effect of the Sub1 gene, a time-lapse video, done over the period of 14 June-16 October 2007 on the IRRI farm, was prepared by IRRI’s photography and video section.
