AMWU National President Julius Roe recalls the life and times of legendary Australian unionist Laurie Carmichael, at a function celebrating the 50th anniversary of Laurie’s election to his first full-time union post. His speech covers the anti-war period of the 60s, the Prices and Incomes Accord with the Hawke/Keating Governments of the 80s and early 90s, and Laurie’s commitment to education as a tool of liberation for working people.
