Mike Hinkens has been pursuing a professional career outside of BMX for quite some years now and he has recently made a large decision that will undoubtedly affect his life in all ways, including BMX. Here is what he had to say…

“As some of you may know, I have been working hard on becoming a social studies teacher for some years now. In this tight market and in my search for jobs I have been very open to working anywhere. After some thorough research and some soul searching I have taken a job teaching middle and high school in Managua, Nicaragua…(Thats in Central America, below Mexico!). I will be leaving at the end of July for the next 2 school years. I am pretty excited to see the rest of this world up close and personal and I feel that this may be the next step for me. Obviously, I will continue to ride my bike and I hope that I can still balance my career and BMX as I do now. I really hope to maybe see some of you as visitors down there or possibly, meet you if you live down there! If you think that we may be able to ride down there, shoot an email over to the Sputnic crew”.
