Todays Project: Were building a basic BMX and skate park for a local community housing location at 75 Tandridge Cr. Toronto (Albion + Islington area) . The construction project will involve assembling 8 platforms or tables, 2 quarter ramps and 2 flat ramps. Guests will be divided into teams, provided the tools, materials and guidance of an experienced carpenter, and will have one hour to complete the task. The goal is to have the course ready for delivery to Tandridge by the end of the afternoon.

Tomorrows Project: Suddenly, real life will usurp video games
Imagine:
-a unique youth action sports centre
-located centrally in Toronto
-accessible to all (no user fees)
-catering to BMX Riders, skateboarders, inline skaters, freestyle mountain bike riders, and others wanting to develop their skills for action sports
-provides a constructive, healthy activity for Torontos youth

That is the vision!..an innovative youth centre focused on action sports that would feature a full sized BMX park, a challenging skateboard park, a media production centre, with space to grow and develop other activities. Mike Heaton, TorontoBMX

Word of thanks from TorontoBMXs Mike Heaton: Thank you for helping out with this project today. These ramps will have a big impact of the youth in the Tandridge neighbourhood, giving them a tool to help develop their skills and to improve their sense of self worth, as they realize what they are capable of.

Todays TorontoBMX Riders:
Eric Favot, Jason Tojeiro, Adam Dudzinski, Lawrence Yi

After an awe-inspiring BMX Skills Demonstration, these riders will be working with the kids to introduce them to the BMX Sport. All bikes provided courtesy of city of Toronto Parks Forestry and Recreation

The BMX Bike Ramps used in the demo today are from the torontoBMXjam09 being held March 13, 14, 14, 2009 at the Direct Energy Centre. Over 150 BMX riders under 14s, ladies, amateur and pros from across North America will compete on a 50×140 course filled with obstacles. What you see today is on ly the beginning. Information on this event and other BMX activities can be found online at http://TorontoBMX.ca

Thanks to Allan Crawford, city of Toronto Parks Forestry and Recreation for the vision of accessible BMX freestyle ramps for youth in Toronto.

Video recorded and posted by Constable Scott Mills, Toronto Crime Stoppers Community Youth Officer / Legal Graffiti Art Coordinator.

Cst Mills has implemented a unique and highly praised project to link graffiti artists with skate park ramps to provide not on ly readily accessible canvases for their work but also opportunities for Toronto Police Service officers and Crime Stoppers community volunteers to work more closely with community youth. As we forge ahead with future Action Sports facilities in the city, the value of linking youth groups through one centre will continue to be the backbone of our projects.
