When I first met Derek, I always thought he’d be that guy to quit in a month or so but I couldn’t have been more wrong (he keeps proving this to me every time I see him ride and he’s that much better than me). It’s awesome to see how much he truly loves and is dedicated to BMX. I mean, I’m not calling him the next Garrett Reynolds, I’m just calling him that guy who’s going to keep riding his bike until he can’t anymore. I know Derek pretty well… almost on a brotherly level (we’ve gotten into it quite a few times) and I can honestly say he is one of the best people in BMX that I know.
