From Redline’s new NBL Vet Pro — Tommy Board:
“In preparations for the South Park and Nashville NBL Elite series races, we loaded up and made a family trip to the NBL Warsaw National. The Hire Park BMX crew had the track dialed in and the facilities groomed for this event! Day one, Elite Open had 3 racks of pros! I made the main and was feeling really good! Came out of lane 6th with a good gate and heard some carnage going on behind me, so I peddled even harder to avoid any of it. Out of turn 1, I’m in 3rd place and trying to catch Upshaw and Faoro. I over shot a double on the third straight and killed my speed, getting passed into the last turn. I tried to catch up, but had nothing in the reserves and slid back to fifth.
Not too bad for a 38 year old [ lol ].
So, on Monday my daughter wanted to go ride the Louisville track and I was stoked on that, so we packed up and headed off! We got out there and had a few laps and a younger rider was asking how to get through the 3rd staight and I told him a few things, then was going to demostrate it for him. I hit the first and second straight at speed, then slowed down for the third to show him what I was trying to explain. Well, before knew it, I was looping out and smacked my hand pretty good. With my daughter laughing at me, we went to the hospital, and the result was a comminuted fracture of my metacarpal of my left thumb.
Thursday, I had two pins placed and will be out for 6-9 weeks. Thanks to for all the well wishes and I’ll be back ready to battle soon!
